Situated near Brampton in north Cumbria, next to the magnificent 12th century Lanercost Priory and just 400 yards from the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, Lanercost is a beautiful development of three cottages and three houses centred around two old stone courtyards. Created in 2009 by the Howard family of nearby Naworth Castle, the properties lie at the heart of the Naworth Castle Estate and are each named after a powerful family connected with Lanercost. The three cottages are each rated 4 Star whilst the three houses are all rated 4 Star Gold. They are all designed and furnished to the highest standards whilst still retaining their own individual charm with original timber beams and huge arch windows.

Being only half an hour from the northern Lake District and Scotland and 15 minutes from the Northumbrian County border, Lanercost is well placed for exploring the north of England and south of Scotland. It is within 11 miles reach of the M6, junction 43 or 44 and 13 miles northeast of Carlisle.

The area offers a vast range of activities for all ages and tastes. Whether you want to explore history, discover the great outdoors or just take time out relaxing with a cappuccino in our highly acclaimed Lanercost Tea Room and Restaurant. Recent development includes an exciting new 'Hadrian's Wall Visitor & Information Centre' just steps away from the cottages, meaning guests can discover even more about this beautiful and historic location.

Lanercost is located 13 miles north-east of Carlisle near Brampton and 11 miles from the M6. It is situated in romantic valley of the River Irthing. Gretna Green is within 30 minutes drive. Newcastle and The Lake District are within 60 minutes. Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh are 2 hours drive.

Follow the brown tourist signs to Lanercost Priory/Birdoswald Roman Fort from either the A69 or A689, Carlisle to Newcastle.
